Alpine peaks, clear lakes and quiet luxury

Switzerland, between Alpine peaks and lakes

In Switzerland the train arrives on time, and the mountains look just as they do in the pictures.

The destination

About Switzerland

Switzerland is the choice for natural beauty and luxury at the heart of Europe, where Alpine peaks under snow all year meet clear blue lakes and green meadows. It is known for its precise organisation, its cities of innovation and the arts, and its quiet villages made for rest.

Trains, buses and boats reach almost everywhere, even the high mountains: Jungfraujoch at 3,454 metres, Gornergrat facing the Matterhorn, and Pilatus on the world's steepest cogwheel railway.

Saudia flies direct from Jeddah and Riyadh to Geneva and Zurich, so your journey can start on Lake Geneva or in Zurich, continue to Lucerne and Interlaken, and end in car-free Zermatt.

We arrange luxury family hotels, a private driver or first-class rail passes, and point you to halal restaurants and places to pray. Please note that Swiss law has banned covering the face in public places since 2025.

Questions

Before you go

Do Saudi citizens need a visa for Switzerland?
Yes, Switzerland is in the Schengen area. Applications are made at VFS Global centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, and the Swiss embassy decides. You can apply from six months to 15 days before travel. We prepare your file and book your appointment; no one can guarantee approval.
Is face covering allowed in Switzerland?
Since 1 January 2025, Swiss federal law bans covering the face in public places, including for visitors, with fines of up to CHF 1,000. A headscarf that leaves the face uncovered is not affected.
When is the best time to visit Switzerland?
June to September for the lakes, meadows and mountain railways, the favourite season of Gulf families. December to March for snow and skiing. In April and November some mountain railways close for maintenance.
Is halal food available?
Yes. Geneva, Zurich, Interlaken and Lucerne have Lebanese, Turkish and Indian restaurants serving halal food, and some luxury hotels have Middle Eastern restaurants. In small mountain villages we suggest vegetarian and fish dishes. We send you a list of restaurants near your hotel.
Where can I pray in Switzerland?
Geneva has the Mosque of Geneva in Petit-Saconnex, and the large cities have Islamic centres and prayer rooms. We send you the nearest mosque to your hotel; qibla apps work everywhere.
How do I get around Switzerland?
Trains are punctual and comfortable, and the Swiss Travel Pass covers trains, buses and boats and discounts many mountain railways. If your family prefers privacy, we arrange a private driver. Cars cannot enter Zermatt; you arrive by train.
What is the currency, and is Switzerland expensive?
The currency is the Swiss franc, and cards are widely accepted. Switzerland is one of Europe's most expensive countries, especially for restaurants and mountain railways, so we set a clear budget with you before you travel.
Is Switzerland safe for families?
Switzerland is one of the safest countries in the world. Keep an eye on bags at busy stations, and in the mountains stay on marked paths and carry warm clothes, as the weather changes quickly.
