Discover Quba
Quba lies in northern Azerbaijan, about 170 km from Baku, known for its green mountains, its apple orchards and its hand-woven carpets.
Roads lead from the town into the surrounding valleys, among them to Afurja waterfall, which drops from a high cliff in the forest near the village of the same name.
Further on, a mountain road climbs through a rocky gorge to Khinalug, one of the highest inhabited villages in the Caucasus, whose people keep their own language and customs. The Cultural Landscape of Khinalug People and the Köç Yolu transhumance route was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2023.
Quba is a long day from Baku or an overnight stop. It is best from June to September; Khinalug can be hard to reach in winter.
