Discover Ari Atoll
Ari Atoll (Alif Alif and Alif Dhaal administratively) is one of the largest atolls in the Maldives, lying west of Malé, about 25 to 35 minutes by seaplane. Its channels, rich in marine life, make it one of the country's best-known dive areas.
In the south of the atoll is a marine protected area visited by whale sharks, the largest fish in the world, all year round. Boats leave the resorts to snorkel alongside them with guides who keep to the watching rules. Manta rays are common in season too.
South Ari is also home to Ithaa, at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, five metres beneath the surface, with curved glass walls around which reef fish drift during your meal.
Its resorts range from modern water villas to family resorts, most reached by seaplane.
