Hammamet

Hammamet is a coastal town on the gulf that bears its name, about an hour from Tunis, and the country's first choice for rest and water sports. At its heart is a small medina inside sea walls, crowned by a kasbah above the water, its white houses hung with jasmine.

Long sandy beaches with calm water suitable for children line the gulf, with hotels and sea-water therapy (thalasso) centres, a tradition Tunisia is known for. To the south, Yasmine Hammamet has its marina and family parks.

Hammamet is a comfortable base for Cap Bon: citrus groves, the pottery town of Nabeul, and the Punic site of Kerkouane on the UNESCO list. May to October is the time for the sea, spring and autumn for therapy and quiet.
