Discover Koh Samui
Koh Samui is a refined island in the Gulf of Thailand, combining a relaxed pace, palm-lined beaches and hotels with sweeping views. A small airport receives flights from Bangkok of about one hour.
The busiest beaches, Chaweng and Lamai, are on the east coast, while the hills of the north and west hold quieter resorts with private villas. Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park, more than 40 islands, lies a short boat ride away and makes the island's best day trip.
Samui's seasons differ from the Andaman islands: the best months are January to August, and the heaviest rain falls from October to December. That makes Samui a good choice for the Saudi summer holiday, when the Andaman coast is in its monsoon.
We suggest three or four nights on Samui as part of a journey that starts in Bangkok, in a resort that gives a family the privacy of a villa and its own pool.
