Discover Rome
Rome is the Eternal City, home to the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican Museums. Its historic centre has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1980, and most of its landmarks are within walking distance of each other.
The Colosseum was completed in AD 80, with the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill beside it. A short walk away stand the Pantheon and its dome, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. The Vatican Museums and St Peter's are in Vatican City, an independent state within Rome.
For Muslim families, Rome has the Grand Mosque at the foot of Monte Antenne, one of the largest mosques in Europe, and halal restaurants in several districts. We recommend booking timed entry to the Colosseum and the Vatican in advance, and visiting early in the morning in summer.
