Discover Aarhus
Aarhus is Denmark's second city, a young university town on the east coast of Jutland and European Capital of Culture in 2017. The train from Copenhagen takes about 3 hours.
Its best-known sight is the ARoS art museum, crowned by Your rainbow panorama, a circular walkway of coloured glass that shows the city through the colours of the spectrum. A few minutes away is the Old Town (Den Gamle By), an open-air museum of historic houses moved from across Denmark, telling the story of Danish town life over the centuries.
On the new waterfront stand striking contemporary buildings such as the Iceberg (Isbjerget), and woods and beaches stretch south of the city. Aarhus is a good base for combining Jutland with LEGOLAND in Billund, about an hour and a half by car.
