Da Nang

Da Nang is a modern seaside city in central Vietnam, known for the long, clean My Khe beach and for its bridges over the Han river, the best known the Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire and water on weekend evenings.

West of the city rise the Ba Na Hills, reached by a long cable car to a mountain resort with the Golden Bridge, a 150-metre walkway held up by two giant stone hands since it opened in 2018. South of the city are the Marble Mountains, five limestone hills with caves and shrines.

Da Nang is the base for the centre: the old town of Hoi An is about 45 minutes away, and the imperial city of Hue two and a half hours over the Hai Van Pass. Its international airport has domestic flights of about 1 h 20 min from Hanoi and Saigon.

The beach season runs from February to August; September to December brings rain and storms to the central coast.
