Green valleys, snow peaks and Caucasian hospitality

Georgia, between the Caucasus peaks and the Black Sea

Where Eastern Europe meets Western Asia, a small country that holds the Caucasus, green valleys, a sea coast and ancient fortresses.

The destination

About Georgia

Georgia lies where Eastern Europe meets Western Asia and is one of the fastest-growing destinations in the region. Its unspoilt landscapes run from the Greater Caucasus, with peaks above 5,000 m, to green valleys and the gentle Black Sea coast, alongside a long history told by stone fortresses and monasteries, and at a reasonable cost.

Most journeys begin in Tbilisi, a capital that grew up around its hot springs, with its old town, lanes and Narikala fortress above. Twenty kilometres away lies Mtskheta, the ancient capital, a World Heritage site. Then the Georgian Military Road climbs north to Kazbegi, where Gergeti Trinity Church looks across to the snow cap of Mount Kazbek.

In the west lies Borjomi, the town of the famous mineral water, among forests and a national park; on the coast, Batumi, with its long boulevard, modern towers and a botanical garden above the sea. Adjara, the region around Batumi, has an old Muslim community and active mosques.

Questions

Before you go

Do I need a visa for Georgia?
Saudi citizens need no visa and may stay for up to a full year. For residents of the Kingdom it depends on nationality and on the type and validity of the residence permit; our team checks this for you before booking.
Is health insurance required to enter Georgia?
Yes. Since 1 January 2026 every foreign visitor must hold health and accident insurance covering the whole stay, with at least GEL 30,000 of cover, in English or Georgian, on paper or electronic. We issue it with your booking.
When is the best time to visit?
May to October for Tbilisi and Borjomi; June to September for Kazbegi, the mountains and Batumi's beaches. December to March is the snow season at Gudauri.
Is halal food available?
Georgia is mostly Christian and pork is common in its cooking. Tbilisi and Batumi, however, have Arab, Turkish and Iranian halal restaurants, which we recommend and book for you, and on the mountain roads we choose suitable stops in advance.
Where can I pray during the trip?
Tbilisi has a mosque in the old town with Friday prayers, Batumi has Orta Jame Mosque, and Adjara has others. Elsewhere you can pray at your hotel, and we plan the tours around prayer times.
How do I get around Georgia?
A private car with driver is best, especially on the mountain roads to Kazbegi. Between Tbilisi and Batumi there are domestic flights and trains; by road it is about 370 km.
What is the currency, and is Georgia safe?
The currency is the Georgian lari. Cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and malls, and exchange offices are everywhere. Georgia is generally safe for families, with the usual care in crowded places.
What should we wear?
Everyday clothing is fine in the cities. Modest dress, and a head covering for women, is expected inside the churches and monasteries you visit. Bring a warm layer for the mountains, even in summer.
