A characterful mountain hotel in Stepantsminda, built into a Soviet-era sanatorium, with a terrace running the full length of the building towards snow-capped Mount Kazbek.
Rooms Hotel stands at 1 Gorgasali Street in Stepantsminda, in northern Georgia. In Soviet times the site was a sanatorium; the hotel grew out of its modernist block, now clad in timber, and has become the best-known address in the Kazbegi area. The Georgian National Tourism Administration lists it with 143 rooms.
The view is the point. A broad terrace runs the length of the building, facing Mount Kazbek and Gergeti Trinity Church on the hill opposite. Inside are worn brick, reclaimed wood and cognac leather, and a lobby lined with bookshelves around leather sofas.
The hotel has a gym, a spa, a pool and a sauna, free parking, 24-hour room service and a shuttle service. Nights are clear and dark here, and the wide lawn in front of the hotel is a good place to watch the stars with the family.
