Discover Fujairah
Fujairah is the only emirate that lies almost entirely on the Gulf of Oman; the Hajar Mountains separate it from the rest of the country, and the drive from Dubai takes about two hours on scenic mountain roads.
In the town stands Fujairah Fort, one of the oldest forts in the UAE, restored and open to visitors. To the north is Al Badiyah Mosque, a small four-domed building of stone and mud brick, considered the oldest standing mosque in the country and still used for prayer.
Fujairah's coast is quieter than the Arabian Gulf side, with water suited to diving and swimming at the resorts of Dibba and Al Aqah, and mountains behind the beach.
Fujairah suits two quiet nights by the sea at the end of a busy trip, or a day combined with Ras Al Khaimah.
