Discover Zermatt
Zermatt is a car-free mountain village facing the iconic Matterhorn, 4,478 metres high, whose pyramid shape appears on a famous Swiss chocolate. It is also a major ski resort.
You arrive by train from Visp or Täsch and get around in small electric taxis. From the village, the Gornergrat railway climbs to 3,089 metres facing the Matterhorn and the Gorner Glacier, and a cable car rises to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.
The Glacier Express starts here on its panoramic run to St. Moritz, about 8 hours. We suggest at least two nights, as the Matterhorn often hides in cloud.
