Discover Lausanne
Lausanne climbs the hills of Lake Geneva's north shore, from its Gothic cathedral at the top to the Ouchy district on the water. It is home to the International Olympic Committee and to the Olympic Museum, set in a park above the lake.
Boats sail from Ouchy to the lake towns, and the train reaches Montreux in about 20 minutes, where Chillon Castle stands on a rock in the water, facing the French Alps across the lake.
Lausanne is quieter than Geneva and closer to the mountains, about 40 minutes from Geneva by train and about 1 h 10 from Bern.
