Discover Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a royal city on the water, where old palaces sit beside contemporary architecture. At its centre is Tivoli Gardens, opened in 1843, and a few minutes away the pedestrian Strøget leads to Nyhavn with its painted houses and wooden boats.
The royal family lives at Amalienborg, where the guard changes every day at noon, and Rosenborg Castle displays the Danish crown jewels. Christiansborg Palace houses the parliament and the royal reception rooms, and its tower looks over the whole city. On the waterfront, the Little Mermaid has sat on her rock since 1913.
The metro and canal boats make Copenhagen easy to get around, and halal restaurants are plentiful in Nørrebro, home also to the Grand Mosque of Copenhagen. By train, Helsingør is about 45 minutes away and Odense about an hour and a half.
