The Colosseum and the Roman Forum with a private guide
A walk through the heart of ancient Rome: the world's best-known amphitheatre, the Forum and the Palatine Hill. We book timed entry and a guide who tells the story in your language.

The experience
The Colosseum was completed in AD 80 and was the largest amphitheatre in the Roman world. You enter through its stone arches onto the oval arena and picture the stands full of spectators two thousand years ago.
The combined ticket includes the Roman Forum, the centre of political and commercial life in ancient Rome, and the Palatine Hill, where the emperors built their palaces. From the top of the hill the whole Forum lies below you.
The site is run by the Colosseum Archaeological Park, and tickets are sold with timed entry slots that sell out in season, so we book them in advance. A private guide keeps the story short and picks the easiest route for older travellers and children.
In summer we suggest starting early, before the heat, with comfortable shoes and water: the ground is uneven stone and shade is scarce.
