Northern lights and the ice hotel in Lapland
Nights under Abisko's clear skies and a night in a room carved from ice at Jukkasjärvi. The best of Sweden's Arctic winter.

The experience
Abisko lies on the southern shore of Lake Torneträsk, in an area sheltered by mountains from the clouds, so its sky stays clear more often than most of the Arctic, making it one of the world's best places for the northern lights. You can watch from observation points or on evening outings with guides.
About an hour and a half away by car is the ICEHOTEL at Jukkasjärvi, built every winter since 1989 from the ice of the Torne River and melting back into it in spring. Artists from around the world design its rooms and suites each year, so it is never the same twice.
We suggest one night in an ice room, where the temperature stays at about minus five degrees and you sleep in a thermal sleeping bag on a bed of ice covered with reindeer skins, and the other nights in warm rooms. By day you can try dog sledding, snowmobiles and a visit to a Sámi reindeer farm.
The best time is December to March, when the ice hotel is complete and the dark nights are long. We arrange the flight from Stockholm to Kiruna, thermal clothing, guides and private transfers.
