About ICEHOTEL, Jukkasjärvi
The world's best-known ice hotel, rebuilt every winter from Torne River ice, with the year-round ICEHOTEL 365 and warm rooms for comfortable nights.
ICEHOTEL was first built in 1989 in the village of Jukkasjärvi near Kiruna, and is rebuilt every winter from Torne River ice to new designs carved by artists from around the world, open from December to April. Since 2016 the site also has ICEHOTEL 365, a permanent, chilled ice building open all year, even under the midnight sun.
The ice rooms stay at about minus five degrees, and guests sleep in thermal sleeping bags on ice beds covered with reindeer skins. We therefore suggest one night in an ice room or art suite and the rest of your stay in warm rooms such as the Kaamos rooms or the Arctic cabins. There is a sauna on site, and northern lights outings and dog sledding start from the hotel.
