Carthage and Sidi Bou Said in one day
The ruins of Punic and Roman Carthage by the sea in the morning. Then the white and blue lanes of Sidi Bou Said until sunset.
Carthage · Tunisia
The experience
The day begins on Byrsa Hill, the heart of ancient Carthage, with the Carthage Museum and its view over the gulf and the ports. You then go down to the circular Punic ports that sheltered Carthage's fleet and to the Antonine Baths on the shore, among the largest Roman baths in Africa, built in the 2nd century AD.
After lunch you drive a few minutes to Sidi Bou Said, the village that grew around the shrine of the 13th-century saint Abu Said al-Baji and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2026. You walk its cobbled lanes between white houses and studded blue doors, and visit Ennejma Ezzahra palace with its Andalusian decoration.
The day ends with pine-nut tea on a café terrace above the gulf and the Sidi Bou Said marina, with the famous Tunisian bambalouni doughnuts.
An Arabic-speaking guide and a private car are with you, and the pace suits families.
