About Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
A French colonial landmark near Hoan Kiem Lake and the Opera House, with a historic wing and a modern one.
The Metropole opened in 1901 and has been Hanoi's meeting place for writers, artists and heads of state ever since. Its 358 rooms and suites are divided between the historic Heritage Wing, recently restored in the style of the 1920s, and the modern, neo-classical Opera Wing.
It stands in the French Quarter, a few minutes' walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarter and the Opera House, so your day in Hanoi starts at the door. Its best-known suites are named after guests such as Graham Greene, Charlie Chaplin and Somerset Maugham.
