Two hotels in one place at 1,000 metres: six spas, nine pools and nine restaurants, full programmes for children and a cultural calendar of concerts and readings.
The philosopher Johannes Müller built Schloss Elmau between 1914 and 1916 as a cultural retreat in the Elmau valley, at about 1,000 metres below the Wetterstein mountains, and his grandson Dietmar Mueller-Elmau reimagined it as a luxury hotel. The castle was rebuilt after a fire in 2007, and in 2015 the Retreat was added; it hosted the G7 leaders in 2015 and 2022, making Elmau the first hotel to host the summit twice.
There are two hotels: the Hideaway in the castle, with 100 rooms and suites of 25 to 110 square metres, the concert hall and the kids' club; and the Retreat, with 47 suites of 60 to 200 square metres. It is about 20 minutes from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, an hour and a half from Munich airport and 45 minutes from Innsbruck.
Families have two family spas, each with a 25-metre pool, a kids' club and a teens' club, swimming lessons and football camps, while three spas are for adults only, including a 500-square-metre oriental hammam. Our team arranges halal meal requests, the transfer from Munich airport and the right family suite.
