About two hours' drive from Abu Dhabi airport, in the Liwa dunes on the edge of the Empty Quarter, Qasr Al Sarab rises like an old Arabian fort of earth and stone. It has 206 rooms, suites and villas, all looking out over open desert, with Middle Eastern fabrics and bronze chandeliers.
Families have Anantara Family Pool Villas with two or three bedrooms, each with its own pool and Villa Host; couples have one-bedroom pool villas. The resort offers desert activities for all ages: desert walks, camel and horse riding, sandboarding, and the falcon and saluki show.
