A boutique hotel in Uçhisar, the only Relais & Châteaux hotel in Cappadocia, with rooms in old caves and stone houses furnished with antiques, and a pool heated all year.
Museum Hotel sits on the slope of the rock castle at Uçhisar, on the site last lived in by the Tekeli, a Turkmen clan who brought the Akhal-Teke horse to the region. Its caves and stone buildings served as homes, stables, kitchens and storerooms for civilisations from the Hittites to the Ottomans, and the hotel's founder, Ömer Tosun, turned them into 34 rooms and suites.
The hotel is a member of Relais & Châteaux, the only one in Cappadocia. Its name comes from its idea: Ottoman and older antiques throughout the rooms and passages, and a story behind each room. The Shepherd's Cave Suite was a shepherd's home and stable and still has the old feed troughs in its walls; the Beyzade Suite was a room for pressing grapes. The hotel won Best Hotel Architecture and Best Hotel Restoration at the International Hotel Awards in 2013.
Rooms and pool look over the valleys of Cappadocia, and from some suites Mount Erciyes and the dawn balloons are in view. The larger suites have private gardens or courtyards, and the Muhteshem Pool Suite has its own pool and hammam, a fit for honeymooners and anyone who wants complete privacy. We suggest at least two nights, so your trip has room for a balloon morning.
