Old Marrakech, from the Koutoubia to Jemaa el-Fna
A day in the red city among its palaces, gardens and souks. It ends at sunset in Jemaa el-Fna.

The experience
You begin at the Koutoubia, Marrakech's largest mosque, whose Almohad minaret inspired others in Morocco and al-Andalus. Then the Bahia Palace, built by the sultans' viziers in the 19th century, with its marble courtyards, carved cedar ceilings and gardens.
In the afternoon you move to the Majorelle Garden, created by the painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s, with plants from five continents and its blue villa, then return to the medina to walk the souks: Semmarine, the spice market, the dyers' and the coppersmiths' lanes.
As sunset nears you reach Jemaa el-Fna as it fills with storytellers, musicians, juice stalls and food stands. We reserve a table on one of the terraces above the square so you can watch it from above.
A licensed Arabic-speaking guide is with you, and families with children can spread the programme over two days.
