Ait-Ben-Haddou across the Atlas
Full day from Marrakech
March to May and September to November
Ait-Ben-Haddou is a cluster of earthen houses and towers on a hill above a river, on the caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, and on the UNESCO list since 1987. The road from Marrakech crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass at about 2,260 metres, then Ouarzazate, and takes about four hours each way, so we plan it as a long day or as a stage on the way to the desert.
Good to know
- The mountain road is winding
- The pass can close briefly for snow in winter
- The best view is from across the river
