A Komodo National Park cruise
A day on a private boat from Labuan Bajo: the Padar viewpoint, the pink beach and the Komodo dragon. A mix of wildlife and sea found nowhere else.
Komodo · Indonesia
The experience
Komodo National Park is one of the rarest places on earth: volcanic islands with dry hills, surrounded by sea rich in coral, and home to the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard alive. UNESCO inscribed it on the World Heritage List in 1991.
You leave Labuan Bajo harbour at dawn on a private speedboat. The first stop is Padar Island, where steps and a short trail lead to a viewpoint over three bays with different coloured sand. The climb takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
Next is the pink beach, coloured by tiny fragments of red coral mixed with white sand, for swimming and snorkelling. Then you visit Komodo or Rinca island to walk with a park ranger and see the dragons in their habitat.
For more time, we arrange an overnight cruise on a traditional wooden boat with air-conditioned cabins and a private crew, so you can watch sunrise at Padar before other visitors. We agree the menu with you in advance so that it is halal.
Remember that the dragons are wild and dangerous: approach only as the ranger directs, and carry no open food on the trail.
