The Grand Bazaar began in the 15th century, soon after the conquest of Istanbul, and grew into a covered town of lanes and inns. It sells gold and jewellery, carpets, textiles, ceramics and coloured lamps. Bargain calmly, and enter by the Beyazıt or Nuruosmaniye gate to find your way out easily.
