Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque
جامع القرويين
Fatima al-Fihri, who came from Kairouan, founded Al-Qarawiyyin in 859; it grew under the Almoravids and Marinids into one of Africa's largest mosques and one of the oldest working universities in the world. Its zellige courtyard is framed by two ablution pavilions, and its library is among the oldest anywhere.
