Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff opened in December 2014 on the Westcliff ridge, in nine low-rise buildings among terraced gardens beside Johannesburg Zoo, so its rooms look out over gardens, the zoo and the leafy suburbs around.
It has 117 rooms and suites and a spa with nine treatment rooms. Its restaurants include View, at the top of the ridge, and Flames, which serves the South African braai over coals.
We choose it for a night or two before or after a Kruger safari, for its calm and views, and its access to Sandton, the Apartheid Museum and Soweto.
