Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in November 2017 beneath a 180-metre dome by Jean Nouvel, which scatters sunlight over water and walkways. Its galleries tell the story of human civilisations from the earliest times to today, including rare Islamic manuscripts and objects, and there is a children's museum.
