Climbing Arthur's Seat
1.5 to 2 hours
All year in dry weather
Arthur's Seat is the summit of an ancient volcano in Holyrood Park, just behind the Palace of Holyroodhouse. A path from the palace climbs it in about 45 minutes, with views over the Old Town, the castle and the Firth of Forth. It makes a good family morning walk before visiting the palace.
Good to know
- The summit is rocky and windy
- Wear shoes with a good grip
