The Fjellheisen cable car leaves from Tromsdalen, near the Arctic Cathedral, and climbs in about 4 minutes to the Storsteinen platform, 421 metres up. From the top you see the city on its island, the bridge and the mountains around it. In summer the sun stays up at midnight; in winter you may see the aurora from the platform itself on clear nights.

There is a café, Fjellstua, at the top, and the cable car pairs well with a visit to the cathedral in half a day.
