Oslo's waterfront: the Opera House and MUNCH
Half a day
All year
Start at the Opera House, opened in 2008, and climb its sloping marble roof for the harbour view. Then walk a few steps to the new MUNCH museum, where Edvard Munch's work is shown, including versions of The Scream in rotation, and the upper floors look over the fjord.
You can continue along the waterfront to the 14th-century Akershus Fortress, or take a short ferry to the Bygdøy peninsula and its maritime museums.
Good to know
- Walking on the Opera House roof is free
- The Scream versions are shown in rotation at set times
- The Viking Ship Museum is closed until the Museum of the Viking Age opens
