Sevanavank above Lake Sevan
2 hours
May to October
Sevanavank stands on a peninsula that was an island until the lake's level fell in the twentieth century. Stone steps lead up to its two churches of dark volcanic stone, and from the top of the hill you look over the blue water of Sevan and the mountains around it.
We combine the visit with a lunch of grilled Sevan fish at a lakeside restaurant, on the way from Yerevan to Dilijan.
Good to know
- About 200 steps up to the monastery
- Cool and fresh even in summer
